Copper Whitetail Skull with Brushed Gold, FS

Description

This, I daresay, is one of the finest skulls I've ever offered for sale. :)

This spectacular 10 point whitetail buck was found deceased in Missouri of this year, during the spring thaw. An incredible find for any 'found nature' hobbyist! Cause of death was simply 'winter' I presume. I received the frozen head as part of a trade and skinned/defleshed it, then had my dermestid beetles clean it. The defleshed skull was then degreased, sterilized and lightly whitened. After that I worked some magic. :)

The buck has been enameled in metallic antique copper and accented with subtle hints of airbrushed gold that shift and reflected when light hits it. The underside of the jaw and the inner eye sockets are airbrushed with a dark bronze to add depth and beauty. The skull absolutely glows with rich color and the reflective beauty of copper, gold and bronze. I finished it with a satin acrylic sealant.

The gold hints are blended into the along the crown, eye sockets, jaw, etc.

The antlers are real and solidly attached to the skull. I hand-stained the 16 inch (inner spread) rack to restore that natural woodland color, complete with lightened 'ivory' tips. The antlers have plenty of beading around the base, and all ten tines are unbroken. The burr beading and teeth suggests that this was an old buck in the 8-10 year age range. The skull has no damage whatsoever and has all of its teeth.

The skull includes a metal wall bracket for mounting in a dramatic angled position, as seen in the photos. The bracket screws into the wall and holds the skull securely; it can be easily removed from the bracket for handling. The bracket is black but I will airbrush it dark bronze on request, no additional charge.

The skull itself is 11 inches nose to crown and the measurement between the burr (base of antler) and the furthest tine is 17-18 inches, measured along the antler's curve.

Try placing a small display light beneath the skull to light it from below - the result is stunning! :) This fellow is going to make one heck of a visual focal point for someone's living room. :)

This metalized old warrior will be shipped with insurance. USA sales only due to wildlife laws, which apply here as always.
